Ingredients for Brownies:
- 1/2 cup (115g) unsalted butter, melted
- 1 cup (200g) granulated sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/3 cup (40g) unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1/2 cup (65g) all-purpose flour
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp baking powder
Ingredients for Frosting:
- 1/4 cup (60g) unsalted butter, softened
- 2 tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 cup (125g) powdered sugar
- 2 tbsp milk
- 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
- A pinch of salt
Instructions:
Prepare the Brownies:
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9x9 inch baking pan.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the melted butter and sugar. Mix until smooth.
- Add in the eggs, one at a time, and then stir in the vanilla extract.
- Sift in the cocoa powder, flour, salt, and baking powder. Gently fold the dry ingredients into the wet mixture until just combined—be careful not to overmix.
- Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan and spread it out evenly.
- Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Allow the brownies to cool completely in the pan.
Prepare the Frosting:
- In a medium bowl, beat the softened butter until creamy.
- Add the cocoa powder, powdered sugar, milk, vanilla extract, and salt. Mix until smooth and creamy.
- If the frosting is too thick, add a little more milk. If it’s too thin, add more powdered sugar.
Frost the Brownies:
- Once the brownies are completely cool, spread the frosting evenly over the top.
- For a personal touch, sprinkle some chocolate shavings, chopped nuts, or colorful sprinkles on top.
Serve and Enjoy:
- Cut the frosted brownies into squares and serve. Store any leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days.
